چکیده

We perform a nonperturbative calculation of the S0 NN scattering amplitude, using an effective field theory (EFT) expansion. We use dimensional regularization throughout, and the MS renormalization scheme; our final result depends only on physical observables. We show that the EFT expansion of the quantity |p| cot δ(p) converges at momenta much greater than the scale Λ that characterizes the derivative expansion of the EFT Lagrangian. Our conclusions are optimistic about the applicability of an EFT approach to the quantitative study of nuclear matter. 5/96

Information obtained from nucleus as a bound system of nucleons and from nucleon-nucleon scattering experiments is a strong tool for studying various aspects of nuclear forces. Deuteron-deuteron scattering as a four-nucleon system can provide useful information. So, scattering experiment of a polarized beam of deuteron with kinetic energy of65 MeV/nucleon from a liquid-deuterium target was done...

The Two-Nucleon Sector with Effective Field Theory

I present the results obtained for several observables in the two-nucleon sector using effective field theory with KSW power-counting and dimensional regularization. In addition to the phase shifts for nucleon-nucleon scattering, several deuteron observables are discussed, including electromagnetic form factors, polarizabilities, γd → γd Compton scattering, and np → dγ. A detailed comparison be...

Partially-Quenched Nucleon-Nucleon Scattering

Nucleon-nucleon scattering is studied to next-to-leading order in a partially-quenched extension of an effective field theory used to describe multinucleon systems in QCD. The partially-quenched nucleon-nucleon amplitudes will play an important role in relating lattice simulations of the two-nucleon sector to nature.

Three Nucleons at Very Low Energy

We discuss the effective field theory approach to nuclear phenomena with typical momentum below the pion mass. We particularly focus on the three body problem. In the J = 3/2 channel, effective field theory is extremelly predictive and we are able to describe the nucleon-deuteron scattering amplitude at the percent level using only two parameters obtained from nucleon-nucleon scattering. We bri...

Effective chiral theory of nucleon-nucleon scattering

We present a new chiral expansion scheme for the nucleon-nucleon scattering amplitude which preserves unitarity exactly. Our effective field theory builds on the power counting rules for 2-nucleon reducible diagrams proposed in [1]. We evaluate the leading order terms of the isospin one scattering amplitude and elaborate in detail on the S0 phase shift. Our chiral description of the S0phase shi...

Chiral dynamics in few–nucleon systems

We report on recent progress achieved in calculating various few–nucleon low–energy observables from effective field theory. Our discussion includes scattering and bound states in the 2N, 3N and 4N systems and isospin violating effects in the 2N system. We also establish a link between the nucleon–nucleon potential derived in chiral effective field theory and various modern high–precision poten...
